ASA advises you to attend at least one airsoft game before embarking on an airsoft gun purchase. This will allow you to know what your individual needs are as well as talk with experienced users on what to look out for, the prices you want to be paying, and to gain a little experience on how to handle and use them safely.
There are two instances where you can legally purchase an airsoft gun for use in New Zealand.
1) Purchase it from a New Zealand shop. ASGC is a great place to start, as they are the main store in the Auckland area.
Outpost 43 is another good store, but they don't stock a lot of airsoft guns.
2) Import it from another country. Under an agreement with Police and Customs, any import of an airsoft gun has to go through an approved club armourer. You must not attempt this yourself without a club armourer and trying will result in your gun being seized and destroyed by customs. Such an action will jeopardise any future imports for all the countries airsofters. Please get in contact with your local club armourer for assistance with this. As a member of ASA you get access to the services of the club armourer. If you are yet to join you should contact a committee member about the club and or sign up to attend one of our games open to the public.
