laws around minors using airsoft
« on: December 21, 2016, 06:00:51 AM »
hello!
I am interested in getting airsoft, and am wondering about the laws around minors owning and operating low power airsoft pistols in new Zealand.
I am 14 and would like to get an airsoft gun for xmas.
here are my questions:

1. can I own an airsoft gun? the one I'm thinking of getting is ~265 fps
2. the law states that I must be under immediate supervision when using an airgun. does that mean having a adult standing over my shoulder ready to grab the gun, or just being within eyesight of an adult?
3. could I legally have a small skirmish with a friend in my backyard? (wearing appropriate safety gear of course)

thanks in advance for any replies and advice!

they are firearms. we can only recommend you stick to the legal requirements for owning and playing which is 18+ or 16+ with a firearms license

Greetings,

The current age limit for our club is 18. Though people aged 16 or 17 can attend our games if they hold a current firearms license
