What do you look for in a game?
« on: June 21, 2012, 06:22:15 AM »
Just wondering what people are looking for when they come to a game, what type of game they like and so on.

Edit:  I suppose I could answer my own question.

I look for a distraction from my boring arse job, and other crap.  Airsoft is my zen time, I don't have room to think about anything else but the field, and its great:)  I want to get out and shoot at stuff, and I enjoy having a themed game to be the framework for that.  But I'm also quite happy with casual games too.

Tricky question...probably the thing that makes me really enjoy a game is when I feel like my actions have contributed to the success (or even failure) of the mission. Casual games are good for tuning my technical skills at moving around/shooting etc, but in milsim games I get a real rush out of knowing that there is consequences to my actions, even if my role is to just do what I am told.

It is really.  I think its quite difficult for me to verbalize as well.  I also enjoy improving my skills too.  Even if its just working on being better and clearer on comms, its all good.

I totally hear you on the consequences and following orders thing.  Spending a long time on a hill watching for the Opfors at Benyas game was great, I was surprised at how long I stayed focused, and had a blast, even though I didn't see anyone the whole time!

I'd quite like to hear from some of our newer members too:)  Don't be shy about posting.

one thing I've noticed and was reminded again at last weekends induction is that with smaller faster games, walking back to respawn at base is a real drag, and towards the end of the day it's a clear morale killer. I lost count of how many times I walked to and from the respawn and fire-fight. Newer players just didn't have the energy and so enthusiasm for the game had all but evaporated.

with respect to larger milsim games, I agree with the above.

Will take that into account when I'm planning Julys induction.

If anyone has any ideas in particular for induction games, PM me and I'l consider them.

maybe some abbsailing down a cliff to get to an objective.

and, to simulate a rocket,
try  some skyrockets down a (tight) fishing line (for safety) to trigger a larger fire ball... @ tgt.

woo yeah. !

im just tossing things out there now   :o
