This is currently under review as ASA considers moving to adhere strictly with ASNZ guidelines and so this infomation is likely to change in the next few weeks.
ASA operate muzzle velocity limits based on the energy in joules to allow players to use higher weight BBs without compromising safety. We also adhere to ASNZ guidelines for velocity limits. Below is a chart showing the correlation between the BB weight, feet per second muzzle velocity and the resulting energy. The shaded areas illustrate the limits of each class of airsoft gun determined by the BB's energy. The lighter area above each shaded block is the leeway given to compensate for gas pressures and inconsistencies in SEGs.
We ask players to avoid going right to the maximum limit as this may result in a chrono being taken on the day and the gun being banned. Any gun above the following limits will not be allowed on the field. No exceptions, even if its over 1 fps. It is the owners responsibility to ensure all their guns are well within the permitted FPS. These rules are in place for the safety and enjoyment of all players at ASA events which ASA take very seriously. For ease of understanding the following limits are given in FPS as well as Joules (assuming the user has 0.2g BBs loaded). ASA operates two types of games (CQB and Outdoor) and depending on the site used, the appropriate FPS limits will be in effect. CQB (close quarter battle and indoor) gamesCQB Limit of 1.01 J[/b] (330 FPS) Max of 1.13 J (350 FPS) Outdoor games (2 classes of guns)Assault Limit of 1.48 J[/b] (400 FPS) Max of 1.63 J (420 FPS) (Be careful of engagement distance and use your CQB back up within 10-15m) SniperLimit of 2.6 J (530 FPS) Max of 2.8 J (550 FPS) For all Sniper Class guns including Bolt Action
